Stay in the Hiawatha Haus

From a dream... to reality!

Four years ago, I was a girl with the tiniest beginnings of a dream... I was living in Ironwood, Michigan for the summer of 2021, and I had completely fallen in love with the Upper Peninsula.  I never felt a greater sense of belonging in a place - even though I had never been before, I knew I was home.  I would flip through real estate listings and think, "one day, I'll be a Yooper" (a term for a resident of the UP).

Three years later, that day arrived.  I quit my job at a Fortune 50 software company and drove to Ironwood with one goal in mind - to buy a house.  I found the perfect fixer-upper, right by Ironwood's massive Hiawatha statue, and the Hiawatha Haus was born.  My husband, my parents, and I poured countless hours of love, blood, sweat, tears, and laughter into the 130-year-old home, so that we could share the joys of the UP with YOU!

I'm so proud to announce that the Hiawatha Haus is now up for short-term rental.  In addition to a place to stay, I want to give all guests my expert advice on the Western Upper Peninsula.  You can find Hiawatha's Guide to Ironwood here, on AirBnb, and in the Haus.  And keep an eye out for blog posts on the UP in addition to my usual PNW guides.
